IN MY COUNTRY

Art by @oseikhuemen_aikpehae

In my country,
We have apples..
We have the largest Apple orchard in the World.
People from far and near come for our Apples.
But we don't eat our Apples

For we are bound by chains of Corruption
Our mouths pierced and locked by pot-bellied monsters
We own the land and orchard
But we're slaves in and to our Land

Our leaders are on the tree
They choose who and to whom the Apple feeds
The worms feast on the ones that drop
For we are locked out of our pride.

The day will come when I'll burn down the land.
The smokes that'll rise ll make the heavens cry
And I'll laugh in hysteria.
WELCOME TO NIGERIA
