SOCIAL WORK by OLA ADENE (A Review)

Image
Social Work by Ola Adene is an exciting album that explores almost all areas of existence as it concerns the Nigerian society. I believe this album is his own idea of a Social Responsibility. After casually listening to this album more than twice, all I can say is I'll be doing a lot of re-emphasis. Lessons from My Childhood . Here, we are exposed to the typical childhood nature of an average Nigerian child growing up. The intricaces, the cover ups, the misinformations. And we all in

ROLL OUT THE SWEATSHIRTS

ROLL OUT THE SWEATSHIRTS The First Rain has fallen gentlemen, and though it is not yet rainy season, now is the time to roll out those sweatshirts. We were all playing football on Sunday evening at our regular training pitch when we heard the sound coming from a distance, hitting on rooftops coming alongside a strong wind that kept blowing away everything, we knew what it was. The rain had come. Those of us that refused to allow our cleats (soccer shoes) have a feel of the rain ran for cover. Some others remained unwavering as they kept playing in the rain. Well, this is not an article about rain or soccer, however now that it has started raining, gentlemen it is time (like Elijah would say). Time to roll out those sweatshirts, time to put aside those suede shoes, it is another time to make a statement. Let us have a brief thread on matching your sweatshirt for the crazy weather.

Game of Numbers

I am a Number between 1 and 10 Take a lucky Guess!!! I couldn’t have been a 9 That would have been way too easy to guess Neither am I a two Cos it’s just I in the picture And I am not a pair Overall 2 would still be way easy If you think I'm an 8 Then I'll be so excited with near perfection And being an hourglass But I hate that I’m not And I hate to think about that So I'll stick to talking about numbers I'm not an 8 Three is a crowd Death can't kill a crowd And all men must die Queens wear crowns Queens die and I want a crown So it’s not a 3, I'm giving you that easily PS: I'm not a fan of trees That’s why I burn them as I write this 7 perfect number Wish I was perfect But I know I’m not Whose idea was it to relate 7 to perfection? For perfect could have been 4 And 4 for perfection Four legs stand a chair Four legs stand a table Four legs run faster than 2 And I bet 4 eyes should see better than 2 7's and 4's I

Dear Ebun, I didn’t forget to write to you, there's just been a lot going on lately and I have been very busy, but never too busy for you. So while I write my resignation/appreciation letter, I'll tell you all about my new year, precisely about my cross-over night. 2018 eventually ended, and I have not seen you since that time at the lounge. I went to church like every other Christian and non-Christian out there, but before then I had to go to work on the 31st, then see a friend and also attend a little end of the year party thrown by Jide. I eventually got to church around 7 since I had to rehearse for a drama and we went on stage few minutes to 11, and presented a wonderful play. Which i would write about to you in a few days. The service was wonderful, and so much fun, I heard awesome testimonies and overall it was a lovely and lit-up night. The Pastor began his sermon, and we all listened with keen interest to the tick-tock of the clock as it was about
